In a case study published by INBAR (International Network for Bamboo and Rattan), it states that 6% of the Philippine population are dependent on the rattan industry as source of livelihood or extra income. Some of these people are involved in the plantation, gathering of rattan, manufacturing, and working in furniture and handicraft.
